Last week, I had the opportunity to see Mrs. Doire's class integrate technology in a meaningful way to assist in the observation process. Students worked on an "Ice Balloon Lab", observing the impact of several variables on a ball of ice. As students followed the lab procedures, they posted questions to Google Classroom through the use of the Chromebooks and a Smartboard. Other students would then help to answer the questions based on some of the observations that they were making. All of this work was saved for students to refer back to at a later point. This fluid process allowed Mrs. Doire and Mrs. Kelly to work with individual groups while addressing some of the recurring questions as a whole group. I was very impressed with the sophisticated technology literacy skills of the 6th grade students and how those skills were used to drive scientific inquiry. Great job Mrs. Doire's class!!
